Gift-A-Long 2014

So today I have something a wee bit exciting to share with you.

The second annual Indie Gift-A-Long has just kicked off on Ravelry.
What's the Gift-A-Long, you ask?

The Gift-A-Long is like a big Knit/Crochet-A-Long in preparation for the holiday season, you know that one that is fast approaching and comes at the end of December, but we'd rather not talk about. Crafters love to craft gifts, and so the idea of the Gift-A-Long is that we can all craft along together and give each other the encouragement to get those gifts made.

The Gift-A-Long launched today and runs through to the end of the year.

As an added bonus 293 of Ravelry's indie designers have offered a whole stack of patterns  at a discount of 25% for the next eight days, until November 21st  midnight US EST.

I'm offering 20 patterns in total for sale; Olinda, Summer Festival, Milo, Granny's Favourite, Michael, Bloom, Jane, Posy, Sassafras, Lavender, Olearia, Lizzie, Elizabeth, Scrap Heap, Hannah, Griffin, What Big Eyes You Have!, Uwland, Ziggy and Ziggy Beanie.  To get the discount use the code giftalong2014 at the checkout.

Ill be chatting to some other designers who are a part of the GAL in the next little while as well.

So as well as getting some great deals on some patterns, I strongly urge you to go and join the Knit-A-Long part of the GAL over at the Ravelry Indie Design Gift-A-Long forum.  Here you'll find lots of KAL discussions as well as some additional games, and of course the chatter! My how knitters like to chatter! And the prizes. Did I mention there is a ridiculous amount of prizes up for grabs this year. Some you can even win just for chatting!

To be part of the GAL KAL you can knit any of the for sale designs from participating designers, it doesn't have to be one of the ones on sale this year.  So if you've got the milo pattern hidden in your library, and God forbid, you've never knit it, now is the time to dig it out and fossick through your 8ply stash.

What am I going to knit? To be honest, I haven't even thought about it yet as I have a 4ply sample to finish.  But once that's done, I shall be casting on something that for once is a written pattern! woot! I'm thinking some fingerless gloves for teachers might be first on my list.... in fact, that just may well be the topic of my next post. You never know.

What about you? What are you planning to cast on and knit? Which patterns have you got your eyes on to purchase?
