the stash cupboard: tassie workshops

20/8/2014

A few weekends ago I had the most wonderful experience. I got to spend some time in Hobart, Tasmania and teach some classes at The Stash Cupboard.  If you've never been to The Stash Cupboard, plan a trip to Tasmania pronto. If you live in Tasmania; shame on you!

Let me tell you a little something about me and yarn stores. I don't really have a local. Nope. Well, there is a yarn store in the town I live in but let's just say, they don't really stock the yarn or the needles and notions that excite me. There are a couple of what I call half yarn stores nearby, that stock some Noro, Debbie Bliss and some books tucked in amongst the gift wear.  And there is quite a good yarn store in the major town/city place 30kms away, but such is life on the coast here that we rarely venture into the "big" town. Nope. So it's not often I find myself in a real yarn-filled yarn store.

So when I found myself in The Stash Cupboard for the first time Wednesday last week, it was a little overwhelming. I was trying to hold a conversation with the lovely owner Penni while we discussed the classes but all the time I could feel myself being totally and utterly distracted by the riot of colour around me and the yarns that were literally screaming out at me to be touched, squished and smooched. And The Stash Cupboard is indeed a riot of glorious colour, so much lovely lovely yarn. I suspect if you can name it; you can find it in The Stash Cupboard.

The workshops were all fabulous and I had a fabulous amazing time. I met so many wonderful people; some I knew quite well through the internet beforehand and others who were completely new to me. Such fun times! I had a completely fan girl moment when I got to meet Nan Bray of White Gum Wool. What an amazing woman!

And because I seem to be struggling to find the words to enliven this blog at the moment, I'm going to give you some images. Some images of the fabulous times at The Stash Cupboard. To do otherwise, would mean this blog post would remain incomplete for possibly another week!

The food! Oh. My. Goodness! The food alone was amazing. All raw and totally delicious; just the way I like it.
