The Rainbow Dress is designed to fit with negative ease, that means that the finished size will be smaller than actual chest size. 

This element of the design ensures a good fit, yet still allows plenty of room for movement and growth. My daughter has been wearing the same dress for over three years. 

To achieve the best fit for this garment choose sizing based on chest size, not age. Size down if between sizes rather than up.

The rainbow dress comes with instructions for the following options to individualise your rainbow dress and create a ton of different variations.

• picot cast off for the bodice shoulder straps.
• 2 eyelet rounds for the bodice.
• garter stitch hem.
• 3 ruffled hems.
• 3 lace hems.
• 2 picot hems.

A photo tutorial for creating neat underarm cast offs is also included.

Sizes:
This size range fits from 15 to 21 inch chest. 
This equates to roughly a newborn to a size 2, but many older girls will still fit the 21 inch size. My slim daughter did at six years of age.

Yarn:
dk/8ply wool based yarn with good memory.

Needles:
3.75mm needles.
4mm needles.

Tension:
22 stitches and 30 rows in stocking stitch on 4mm needles over 4 inches.
